This series of
models are made from broken electrical equipment that has been taken
apart and reconstructed primarily reusing the fixings and holes in
the original components. The outcomes have the appearance of
pre-computer animation science fiction film models of imagined
sentient technologies, evoking at once a nostalgia and a look to the
future.
Individually
they
are playful and occasionally comical, looking like hacked toys or
roughly built automatons. Together they form a rag-tag armada of
cobbled together robotic soldiers, perhaps of some unnamed
underground resistance.
This diversion
into sculpture embodies an outsider perhaps amateur
approach. Essentially three-dimensional collage or “collage
crossed with DIY”; simply things fixed together to make a new
thing.
